Install Fast Search

QY CAD data management has an index-based search, Fast Search, that enables you to quickly find your design data.

Fast Search must be installed on every machine where you want to view and search properties from your QY CAD documents. It should also be installed on every machine that stores the QY CAD files you want indexed. QY CAD setup automatically installs Fast Search. On Windows machines that do not have QY CAD, you can download and install Fast Search as explained next.

Note:

The Windows Search service must be enabled on each machine you want indexed by Fast Search. By default, the Windows Search service is disabled on Windows Server 2016 and 2019. Windows Search cannot be enabled in Windows Server 2019 if Remote Desktop Session Host (RDSH) is enabled. Windows Search does not support Windows Data Deduplication or Distributed File System (DFS) Namespaces. Windows Search supports DFS Replication, but has not been tested with QY CAD data management.

Verify that QY CAD is not installed.

Note:

Fast Search will not install if QY CAD is installed.

Verify that the Windows Search Service (WSS) is started.

Access Fast Search from Support Center at QY CAD→Downloads→QY CAD 2022 Add-ons.

A WebKey is required to log in to this site.

Download Fast Search and do one of the following:
- To install at the default location, click Next.
- To change the default installation location, click Change. Select a new location and click Next.
- To install the English user interface on a non-English system, select Install English.

Click Install.

Click Finish.

The system displays the Fast Search Configuration dialog box. Configure the search as explained in Configure Fast Search.
