Save a document


If you save a document that has not previously been saved, the software automatically prompts you for a document name and folder.

To save the active document

To save a new document

  1. On the Quick Access toolbar, choose Save.

    Note:

    For QY CAD data management users who selected the option Automatically name files via Document Number and Revision, the system displays a dialog box where you can assign common properties, such as document number and revision number, as explained in Create documents with unique properties. When saving a new draft file in built-in QY CAD data management, the common properties dialog box displays the 3D file along with the draft file. Saving the draft file commits the changes to the draft and to the 3D file.

  2. Select the folder for the new document.

  3. In the File name box, type a new name for the document.

  4. In the Save as type box, select the document format you want to use.

  5. To assign a document number, enter it in the Document Number box.

  6. To assign a revision ID, enter it in the Revision ID box.

  7. To assign a title, enter a title in the Title box.

  8. If you are saving the document to a native format, the Options button is active and you can choose translation options for a non-QY CAD data format.

  9. Click Save.

To save all open documents

To save a document in a different format

You also use this procedure to save a document that was created in a different format.

  1. On the Application menu, click the Save As tab→Save As command .

    Note:

    If you are a QY CAD data management user, you can also access the Save As command from the Data Management tab.

    For QY CAD data management users who selected the option Automatically name files via Document Number and Revision, the system displays a dialog box where you can assign common properties such as document number and revision number, as explained in Creating documents with unique properties.

  2. Select the folder for the new document.

  3. In the File name box, type a new name for the document.

  4. In the Save as type box, select the document format you want to use.

  5. To assign a document number, enter it in the Document Number box.

  6. To assign a revision ID, enter it in the Revision ID box.

  7. To assign a title, enter a title in the Title box.

  8. If you are saving the document to a native format, the Options button is active and you can choose translation options for a non-QY CAD data format.

  9. Click Save.

Tip:
  • If the active document is read-only, you can save changes by selecting Save As to save the document with a new name.

  • You can use the Create New Folder button to create a new folder in the folder listed in the Save In box.

  • When you save a document that has been opened (checked out) from a managed library, the document is saved to the local cache.
