Opening AutoCAD documents in QY CAD

In this section:
7.4.1.1. Defining AutoCAD block origins on import
7.4.1.2. Creating AutoCAD dimensions in QY CAD

You can use the AutoCAD Import Translation Wizard to open AutoCAD documents (versions 12 to 2018). The wizard contains a series of dialog boxes that do such things as:

Setting import file units

Import file units for AutoCAD can be defined in the QY CAD template file specified during translation or you can override the template file units by specifying the file units for translation.

Importing AutoCAD documents that contain custom line types

You can use the AutoCAD to QY CADTranslation Wizard - Step 4 of 8 to assign a AutoCAD custom line type to a specific QY CAD line type.

For more information see AutoCAD to QY CADTranslation Wizard - Step 4 of 8.

Opening AutoCAD documents that contain OLE objects

You can open AutoCAD documents that contain linked or embedded objects, such as Excel spreadsheets. Objects contained in the AutoCAD document appear as smart frames in QY CAD. The OLE object can contain nested objects which are translated. As long as you have the source application, you can edit the imported OLE object. In other words, if the OLE object is an Excel spreadsheet you can edit it as long as you have Excel.

AutoCAD documents may include blocks that contain OLE objects. QY CAD does not support OLE objects in blocks. If the block contains OLE objects, QY CAD drops the block definition and translates the OLE objects individually. If the block contains both AutoCAD data and OLE objects QY CAD distinguishes between the two. The OLE objects are dropped from the block definition and translated individually while the block of AutoCAD data is translated separately.
