Split subdivision model faces

In the Subdivision Modeling environment, choose the Home tab→Modify group→Split command .

Select a single cage face to split, or set the Select method to Chain and select a series of connected cage faces.

Select an edge to serve as the reference for splitting the selected faces.

The reference edge is the shared or common edge between two split faces.

Specify the number of faces to add by defining edges—

1. The Number box specifies how many edges are added to the selected face or faces. To add or remove edges, adjust the value.

2. The edges are temporarily spaced evenly across the selected faces. To adjust the location of an edge, drag the red handle to reposition it.

The maximum number of splits for one operation is 25.

Right-click or click the check mark to accept the changes.
