Analyze a part to estimate cost

  1. Open a QY CAD sheet metal part document.

  2. Open the Design for Cost pane—Select View tab→Show group→Panes and choose Design for Cost.

For more information, see Manipulate multiple- and single-page windows.

  3. Verify that a material has been assigned to the sheet metal part.

    Note:

The Material and Thickness details are obtained from the Material Table in QY CAD.

  4. Enter the estimated cost per manufacturing operation (for example, cost per bend). You can:

    • Enter the costs directly in the Cost column of the Manufacturing Estimate table.

    • Double-click a cell in the Cost Formula column, and use variables to supply costing information.

  5. Click Analyze .

QY CAD identifies the geometry of the part and displays the statistics in the docking pane.

  6. (Optional) Modify the sheet metal part and then click Analyze to update the estimate based on your changes.

The estimated cost to produce the part is recalculated based on your modifications. The pie chart updates as values change.
