Place a Rigid Set relationship

Unlike the other Assembly relationships, there is only one way to create a Rigid Set relationship between two parts. This relationship can only be made using the Rigid Set command bar. There is no option of selecting a Rigid Set relationship from the Assemble command bar. For more information, see About the Rigid Set relationship.

  1. Select the Home tab→Assemble group→Rigid Set command.

The Rigid Set command bar opens. For more information, see Using the Rigid Set command bar).

  2. From the Shared relationships list, select how previously-defined, shared relationships are to be managed:

    • Suppress—Select this option to preserve the shared relationships but to show them as suppressed in the PathFinder.

    • Delete—Select this option to delete the shared relationships.

    • Ignore—Select this option to preserve the shared relationships in the PathFinder as an active relationship.

  3. Use a fence selection to select parts in the assembly, or select parts and subassemblies in PathFinder that are to be included in the rigid set. To add subassemblies to a rigid set, you must select them from PathFinder.

As parts and subassemblies are selected, they are highlighted.

  4. After all the parts to include in the Rigid Set are highlighted, click Accept (✓), right-click, or press Enter to form the relationship.

  5. Select the Deselect (X) option to remove the highlighting and selection of all previously highlighted parts and subassemblies.

The Rigid Set command bar remains open to apply the next relationship.

  6. To close the command bar, press the Esc key.
