Update Harness command
Use the Update Harness command to update the harness data to match the data sent from QY CAD Wiring and Harness Design.
The Update Harness command compares the harness and QY CAD Wiring and Harness Design information and updates any matching connection elements, such as wires, cables and splices. QY CAD maintains paths used to route wires, cables, and bundles. Splice positions are also retained.
Updating harness information
Use the Update Harness command to update the harness data to match the data sent from QY CAD Wiring and Harness Design.
The Update Harness command compares the harness and QY CAD Wiring and Harness Design information and updates any matching connection elements, such as wires, cables and splices. QY CAD maintains paths used to route wires, cables, and bundles. Splice positions are also retained.
The system deletes any elements that exist in the harness, but not in QY CAD Wiring and Harness Design, and adds any elements that exist in QY CAD Wiring and Harness Design, but not in the harness.
In the following example, the QY CAD harness contains six wires (W1-W6), while QY CAD Wiring and Harness Design contains six wires, (W1-4W and W7and W8). When updated from QY CAD Wiring and Harness Design, four wires (W1-W4), found in both QY CAD harness and QY CAD Wiring and Harness Design are updated, the two wires (W5 and W6), found only in QY CAD harness are deleted, and the two wires (W7 and W8), found only in QY CAD Wiring and Harness Design are added.

In the following example, the QY CAD harness contains six wires (W1-W6), while QY CAD Wiring and Harness Design contains two wires (W7 and W8). When updated from QY CAD Wiring and Harness Design, the six original wires (W1-W6) in Solid Edge harness are deleted and the two wires (W7 and W8) from QY CAD Wiring and Harness Design are added.

In the following example, the QY CAD harness contains a cable (C1) that contains six wires (W1-W6) and four additional wires (W7-W10) while QY CAD Wiring and Harness Design contains a cable (C2) that contains eight wires, (W5 – w12). When updated from QY CAD Wiring and Harness Design, the six wires (W5-W10), found in both Solid Edge harness and QY CAD Wiring and Harness Design are updated, the cable (C1) and the four wires (W1 –W4), found only in QY CAD harness are deleted, and the cable (C2), and two wires (W11&W12) found only in QY CAD Wiring and Harness Design are added.

In the following example, the QY CAD harness contains eight wires (W1-W8) and 2 splices (S1 & S2) while QY CAD Wiring and Harness Design contains eight wires, (W1 – W8) and 2 splices (S2 & S3). When updated from QY CAD Wiring and Harness Design, the eight wires (W1 – W8) and the splice (S2) found in both QY CAD harness and QY CAD Wiring and Harness Design are updated, the splice (S1), found only in QY CAD harness is deleted, and the splice (S3), found only in QY CAD Wiring and Harness Design is added.

In the following example, the QY CAD harness contains a bundle (B1) that contains a cable (C1) that contains two wires (W1 & W2) while QY CAD Wiring and Harness Design that contains a cable (C1) that contains two wires (W1 & W2). When updated from QY CAD Wiring and Harness Design, the cable (C1) and two wires are routed through bundle (B1).

Assigning multiple occurrences of components
The Assign Occurrence/Component dialog box appears if you select the Update Harness command in any of the following conditions:

Multiple occurrences of components

Unassigned terminals

Unassigned components

QY CAD Wiring and Harness Design component ID is assigned to unmatched QY CAD component ID
You can manually assign these components the first time to create the wires. After the wires are created, they are updated and the dialog box does not appear the next time you update.
