Working with localized QY CAD help

The QY CAD user interface and HTML help and training collection is localized and delivered in many languages, for example, Chinese (Simplified),Chinese (Traditional), Czech, English, French, German, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese (Brazilian), Russian, and Spanish.

Working with QY CAD in multiple languages

There are several mechanisms that QY CAD uses to determine which language to use to display localized content in the user interface and in user help.

  • At the operating system level—You can easily change the language used to display the QY CAD user interface, without having to remove and then reinstall the product. This capability relies on the current Language (Region) selection on the Microsoft Windows 10 Control PanelRegionFormats tab.

  • During QY CAD setup:

    • QY CAD detects your locale setting when setup is launched and displays the setup wizard user interface in that language.

    • The setup wizard then installs the QY CAD user interface and engineering data files (for example, hole table, material tables, templates, and preferences) for the detected locale.

    • Optionally, you can use the Install English check box on the QY CAD setup wizard to specify that the product is installed and displayed using the English-language user interface and engineering data files (hole table, material tables, templates, and preferences), even when your operating system locale is set to a different locale.

  • While running QY CAD—You can select the Use English in the user interface check box on the QY CAD Options dialog box→Helpers tab to display the UI in English, even when the product was installed in a different language. This option only changes the user interface elements; it does not change the engineering data files and templates installed with QY CAD.

  • Localized QY CAD help is displayed according to the language settings in your web browser. In an Internet Explorer browser, you do this by selecting SettingsInternet OptionsGeneral tab→Languages button→Language Reference dialog box.

Viewing localized help installed on a local network server

When you open a QY CAD help collection, the UDS Digital Industries Software Doc Center website or the local UDS PLM Documentation Server detects your web browser's language settings. For example, if your browser is configured to display in German, and you are using a local help server, the local UDS PLM Documentation Server determines whether the German version of the current collection is installed, and if so, it displays the German version of the content. If the German version is not installed, the server displays the default (English) help collection.

If you have multiple languages configured in your web browser, the server chooses the first available help collection it finds from the list of preferred languages in the web browser settings.

For information about configuring language settings in your web browser, see your web browser documentation.

Localized user interface files delivered with QY CAD

All of the language packs are installed when you install QY CAD. You can see the folder structure that corresponds to each of the localized languages in the C:\Program Files\UDS\QY CAD 2022\Program\ResDLLs\ installation folder. For example, the folder for the English language is identified by the Windows Language Code ID (LCID), number 0009.

The following table lists all LCID numbers, language, and regions covered by that language.
