Save a part in an assembly to a new document
-
On the Application menu, click Save As→Save Selected Model.
-
Select the part in the assembly that you want to save as a new document.
Note:For QY CAD data management users who selected the option Automatically name files via Document Number and Revision, the system displays a dialog box where you can assign common properties, such as document number and revision number, as explained in Create documents with unique properties.
-
In the Save Selected Model dialog box, in the File name box, type a new name for the document.
-
In the Save as type box, select the document format you want to use.
-
Creating a new document is useful when the part contains assembly features, and you want to create a part document that includes those features. You can use the new document to create a drawing, or for manufacturing or analysis purposes.
-
You can save the new document as a QY CAD part or sheet metal document. The new document is associative to the parent document.
