Save a part in an assembly to a new document

  1. On the Application menu, click Save AsSave Selected Model.

  2. Select the part in the assembly that you want to save as a new document.

    Note:

For QY CAD data management users who selected the option Automatically name files via Document Number and Revision, the system displays a dialog box where you can assign common properties, such as document number and revision number, as explained in Create documents with unique properties.

  3. In the Save Selected Model dialog box, in the File name box, type a new name for the document.

  4. In the Save as type box, select the document format you want to use.

Tip:
  • Creating a new document is useful when the part contains assembly features, and you want to create a part document that includes those features. You can use the new document to create a drawing, or for manufacturing or analysis purposes.

  • You can save the new document as a QY CAD part or sheet metal document. The new document is associative to the parent document.
