heat flux
Heat flux is used in heat transfer studies as both a thermal load and as a thermal constraint (or boundary condition).
-
As a thermal load, heat flux measures the heat transferred through a unit area. The SI (International System of Units) units of measurement are W/m².
-
As a thermal constraint (or boundary condition), heat flux defines the heat flux or heat load per unit area for a surface (energy / (time x area)).
For more information, see Thermal loads.
