Releasing documents (Design Manager)
To lock documents and prevent further modifications in Design Manager, you can use:
-
The Release command
to release a document that is part of an assembly. If all the parts of an assembly are already released, you can use the Release command to release the assembly.
Note:When you use the Release command, you can use the Life Cycle functionality to store files in specific locations based on their status.
-
The One Step Workflow command
to release a part or an entire assembly, regardless of whether any parts of the assembly are released or not.
You can use one of two workflow types, One Step Release or Quick Release.
If Design Manager cannot release a document, it displays an error icon in the Issues column. You can hover over the icon to see the associated error message.
Releasing documents with the Release command
When you select the Release command, Design Manager updates the cells corresponding to the document of interest as follows:
-
Sets the Action cell to Change Status.
-
Sets the SE Status cell to Released.
-
Updates the New Filename cell.
-
Displays the location where you chose to save the file in the New Location cell.
If you specified the locations where you want to save documents with Released status (QY CAD Application menu→Settings→Options→Manage tab→Life Cycle page), Design Manager saves your documents in the specified locations by maintaining the subdirectory structures. Moreover, when working with assemblies that include standard parts, you can set the location of Standard Parts (Vault) so standard parts are not moved to the released folder and links to the standard parts are not broken.
Because the implicit move of the released documents impacts the linked documents, the system automatically brings them in by running the Where-Used command. The system only updates the links if you chose the option Automatically update links in all where used results when existing location changes (Design Manager→Options dialog box→Manage tab).
Releasing documents with the One Step Workflow command
When you use the One Step Workflow command, the system just saves the released documents in the location from which you opened the documents. For more information, see Release documents.
