Redefine links

Choose Tools tab→Search group→Redefine Links

In the Current link path box, enter the location of the path of the documents with which you are currently working.

In the Redefine link path to box, enter the location to which you want to redefine the current link path.

Click Next.

In the Look in box, specify the drive and folder containing the documents for which you want to redefine links.

From the list on the left, select a document of interest and then click Add.

Repeat steps 5 and 6 until you added to the redefine list all locations of interest.

(Optional) Do any of the following:

To modify the redefine list, use the Remove or Remove All buttons to remove one or more of the redefine locations.

To include subfolders in the redefine list, select the Include subfolders check box.

To select file types as search criteria, click Process Options.
To specify the file types to be used as input for processing the search, do one of the following and then click OK:

To specify that the contents of a .txt file be used as input, select Text documents (*.txt) used as input.

To specify the QY CAD file types to be used as input, select QY CAD documents used as input, and then select the specific file type.

Click Next.
Design Manager confirms the path redefinition information you entered.

Do one of the following:
-
Select the option, Do not save files when links point to nonexistent files. The system does not open and save the redefined link path string in the parent assembly, but does write an error message to the log file stating that the nonexistent files could not be found.

Deselect the option, Do not save files when links point to nonexistent files. If you do not select this option and attempt to process a link that points to a nonexistent file, the system will open the parent assembly and save the redefined link path string in the parent assembly. The system writes an error to the log file stating that it could not find the nonexistent files.

Click Next.
The system displays information about how many documents it processed and how many broken links it found.

(Optional) Do any of the following:

To return to the previous set of prompts, click Back.

To cancel and close the dialog box, click Cancel.

To view a log file of the results, click View.
-
To cancel and close the dialog box, click Cancel.

To perform another search, click Back.

To finish the operation, click Finish.
