Create reports

You can create various reports about your data. Design Manager provides templates for a set of out-of-the-box reports. You can change the format of reports and save your changes for future use. Creating reports does not require you to go into the CAD application. You create the reports from Design Manager, using the Reports command, which is available on the Home tab.

Design Manager reports are very similar to the QY CAD reports for assemblies, but Design Manager extends the reporting functionality by adding properties that are specific to Design Manager. QY CAD reports and Design Manager reports are separate and are not interchangeable. Design Manager cannot use the QY CAD report templates. The Reports functionality works on part revisions and projects, as well as on content types subclassed off of them. For more information about reports, see the QY CAD Help.

After you create a report, you can print it or export it to other applications.

  1. Choose Home tab→Assistant group→Reports .

  2. In the Reports dialog box, do all of the following.

    1. Use the Among list to specify which parts you want to include in the report.

      Note:

To create a report on selected parts, you must select the parts before selecting the Reports command.

    2. Select a report type.

    3. Choose one of the following additional options as needed:

      • By default, a weldment assembly is treated as a single component for assembly report purposes. Select the Expand weldment assemblies check box to report the individual parts in a weldment assembly.

      • To derive the item numbers displayed in the report from the item numbers in the assembly structure, select the Use assembly generated item numbers check box.

    4. Click the Format button.

  3. In the Format Report dialog box, do the following:

    1. Select the formatting options you want. For example, you can choose a font, set the justification, or display a grid around the report.

    2. Click the Options button.

  4. In the Options dialog box (Assembly Reports), do the following to define the column content and column order that you want to see in the report:

    1. Use the Add and Remove buttons to specify the properties (column data).

    2. Use the Move Up and Move Down buttons to specify the column order.

    3. Click OK to continue.

A report output dialog box is displayed. The dialog box title is based on the report type and document name.

  5. In the Report Output dialog box, select the output option you want. For example, you can print the report, save the report as a document, copy the report to the Clipboard, or create a new report.

Tip:
  • To review and edit the item numbers, use the Occurrence Properties dialog box.

  • If the assembly has been converted to an alternate assembly, the report is created for the active family member.

  • You also can create a report from Windows Explorer, without running QY CAD. Right-click the assembly document, and then select the Reports command. The report includes all parts in the selected assembly. If the assembly has been converted to an alternate assembly, you can use the FOA Member Names dialog box to specify the member for which you want to create a report.
