Revising documents
If you are a QY CAD data management user, you use the Revise command to revise a document. You can revise a single document or multiple documents.
When you select the Revise command, Design Manager updates the cells corresponding to the document of interest as follows:
-
Sets the Action cell to Revise.
-
Displays the incremented revision number in the Revision cell.
-
Displays an incremented version of the document name in the New Filename cell. For example, if the document name was TM2618_A, the incremented name is TM2618_B.
-
Places the existing path in the New Location cell.
If you are not a QY CAD data management user, you use the Increment Name command to append an incremented revision number to a file name.
Revising a document in an assembly
If you use the Revise command to revise a document in the context of an assembly, the link in the assembly updates to point to the new revision. However, you must run the Where Used command to find where the document is used and manually update any other documents you want linked to the new revision.
Revising a 3D document
If you use the Revise command to revise a 3D document, Design Manager performs a where-used search for associated draft documents, if the option Automatically revise or copy drawings that use the selected 3D document is checked in the QY CAD Options dialog box→Manage tab (QY CAD Application menu→Settings→Options). Draft documents with a status of Obsolete are ignored in the where-used search. Also, Design Manager automatically copies and revises drawings that use the selected 3D document. If there are multiple drafts, the system adds an increment ID between the document number and revision number. For example, test1-1.dft, test1-01-1.dft, test1-02-1.dft, and so on.
If you specified in the QY CAD Options dialog box→File Locations tab, the location where you want to save documents with pre-released status, Design Manager saves your documents in the specified location.
