Replace Selected command
Replaces an existing document in the BOM with a selected document. You have the option to replace one occurrence or all occurrences of a file within the structure. The structure is shown under the replaced row so you can also modify the structure of the replaced item.
You can only set the action to Replace for one file at a time. If you have more than one file selected, the Replace action is not available on the Actions list.
You do not have to replace the current document with the same type of document. For example, you can replace a part (.par) document with a sheet metal (.psm) document, or a Microsoft Office Excel Worksheet (.xls) with a Microsoft Office 2007 Excel Worksheet (.xlsx). However, once you have a QY CAD dataset in the BOM line, the BOM line must remain a QY CAD dataset in Structure Editor. For example, you cannot replace a QY CAD dataset with a Word document.
When you replace an item that is a Family of Parts or Family of Assemblies member, you can use the Family of Parts Member or Family of Assembly Member dialog box to specify a new member as the replacement part. The Browse button is available for you to find and select an item that is outside of the part or assembly family.
Since Structure Editor can display items with no dataset in the structure, you can use the Replace command to replace an empty BOM line with any dataset supported by QY CAD Embedded Client. This includes item revisions that do not contain datasets and those that contain non-QY CAD datasets.
If you are using the Replace command to replace empty datasets or BOM lines that do not contain QY CAD datasets with QY CAD datasets, your Teamcenter server administrator should set the SEEC_BOM_Synchronize site preference to True. This enables the replacement file to be synchronized in the assembly when you save and close the file.
