Importing and inserting documents
QY CAD recognizes the formats of other applications and allows you to import and insert documents created in those applications.
Importing documents
You can use the Open command to translate and open documents created in the following applications:
-
AutoCAD Drawing Interchange Format (.DXF)
-
AutoCAD Binary Drawing File Format (.DWG)
-
Parasolid File Format (.X_T)
Once you import the document, you can make changes to the document using the productive QY CAD drawing features and then save the document for future use.
Inserting documents
You can use the Paste Special command and the Sketching tab (or Home tab)→Insert group→Insert Object command to insert documents that support Microsoft Object Linking and Embedding (OLE) into an active QY CAD document. In addition, you can drag documents from other applications into an active QY CAD document.
You can insert the following types of documents:
-
QY CAD Part (.par), Assembly (.asm), Sheet Metal (.psm), and Draft (.dft)
-
Picture/Enhanced Metafile (.gdi)
-
Text: ASCII, Original Equipment Manufacturer (.oem), Rich Text Format (.rtf), and Unicode
-
Bitmap (.bmp)
-
AutoCAD (.dxf), (.dwg)
-
Parasolid File Format (.x_t)
Inserting documents using the Paste Special and Insert Object commands
The Paste Special command inserts the contents of the Clipboard into a QY CAD document in a specific format. You can also specify if you want to link the information rather than embed it.
The Insert Object command links or embeds objects created in another application in a QY CAD document. QY CAD displays the Object dialog box for you to choose what you want to insert (for example, a Word document, a text file, an image, an Excel worksheet, or a PowerPoint slide), and whether you want to link, embed, or share embed the object.
Inserting documents by dragging them
Dragging a document onto the sheet inserts a document as a symbol into the Draft environment. You simply select the document you want to insert, hold the left mouse button, drag the document to the location in the QY CAD document, and release the mouse button.
