Divide a part

Choose Divide Part .

Note:

Divide Part is an ordered modeling command that is only available through customization. For information on adding the command to the ribbon bar, see Customize the command ribbon.

Click a reference plane or construction surface to define where you want to divide the part.

Click to define the cutting direction.

Note:

If you intend to divide the part a second time, choose the cutting direction carefully. The part the arrow points to cannot be divided again. Make sure the arrow is pointing away from the part you want to divide again.
For each additional division, click the Next Cut button on the command bar and then define the cutting plane or construction surface and the cutting direction as described in the previous steps.
After you have finished making the divisions, click the Finish button on the command bar.
On the Divide Part dialog box, in the Filename column, type the names for the new part documents.
Click the Select All button, and then click the Save Selected Files button.

Note:

For QY CAD data management users who selected the option Automatically name files via Document Number and Revision, the system displays a dialog box where you can assign common properties, such as document number and revision number, as explained in Create documents with unique properties.
