General tab (Balloon Properties dialog box)

Saved settings

Specifies the name for a new saved setting. Selecting the arrow lists the previously saved setting names.

Saved settings enable you to save content and formatting properties. You can apply saved settings to quickly format new balloons and to modify existing balloons.

Save

Saves the information in the Balloon height, Balloon shape, Number of sides, Upper, Prefix, Lower, Suffix, Orientation, and Text alignment boxes to the name displayed in the Saved settings box.

Delete

Deletes the saved setting information associated with the name currently displayed in the Saved settings box.

Note:

Saved settings are saved to text files in the ..\Program Files\UDS\QY CAD 2022\Template\Reports folder. This enables you to share these files with other users. The text files are named for the annotation type, for example, DraftBalloon.txt.

Balloon height

Specifies the height of the balloon. The value you enter is a ratio of the text height defined in the dimension style. The actual height of the balloon is the value you enter multiplied by the dimension text height.

Balloon shape

Specifies which balloon shape you want from the list of available shapes.

Number of sides

Sets the number of sides of an n-sided balloon shape. To use this option, you must first select N-Sides from the Balloon Shape list. You can then type or select a value from the Number of sides list.

Upper

Specifies text for the top half of the balloon.

This option is not available when the balloon is using item numbers extracted from the model.

Lower

Specifies text for the bottom half of the balloon. When you type text in the Lower box, a dividing line is added automatically to the balloon.

Prefix

Specifies prefix information to display before the balloon.

Suffix

Specifies suffix information to display after the balloon.

Parts List Quantity Property Text

Inserts %{Parts List Quantity|G} to extract the parts list quantity into the balloon text. This is inserted at the current cursor location in the Upper, Lower, Prefix, or Suffix box.

For underline balloon shapes, which do not have a designated box to display the item count, you can use the Parts List Quantity Property Text option to insert the item count in the Prefix or Suffix of the underline balloon.

Property Text

Opens the Select Property Text dialog box, which you can use to assign property text to a balloon label.

Reference Text

Selects text strings from annotations and drawing views for the purpose of inserting the information into other annotations, such as callouts, feature control frames, and balloons.

For more information, see Create reference text.

Format

Modifies the format of the property text string output value or text in the Upper, Lower, Prefix, or Suffix box.

Displays the Format Values dialog box for you to choose the formatting. You can apply formatting to each valid property text string. The type of formatting you can apply depends on your cursor position when you select the Format button. For example, you can display balloon text such as the file name or document title in all UPPERCASE letters. You also can apply month-day-time formatting to a date value.

For more information, see Format property text values.

Fastener Systems

The following options are available for a ballooned drawing view that shows fastener system components.

Orientation

Specifies a vertical or horizontal arrangement for balloon stacks. For a vertical stack, you can choose to arrange the balloons from top to bottom or from bottom to top. For a horizontal stack, you can choose to arrange the balloons from left to right or from right to left.

Note:

You can drag one of the balloon stack edit handles to change the alignment interactively.

Text alignment

Specifies center, right, or left text alignment for text displayed using the underline balloon shape and a vertical stack alignment.

To learn how to arrange balloons in a stack automatically and manually, see the help topic, Stack balloons.
