Identify the design space

In Generative Design, the body to be optimized is referred to as the design space. When you create a new generative design study for a part document, the body is selected automatically.

Identify the design space

To identify the body that was selected, in the Generative Design pane, click the Design Space (Defined) node to highlight the body in the graphics window.

Change the design space geometry

If your part model has multiple bodies, the active body was selected automatically as the design space. To choose a different design body:

Choose Generative Design tab→Geometry group→Design Space .

Select the geometry to be optimized using PathFinder or by clicking directly in the graphics window.

Note:

To be included in the solution, the geometry must lie totally or partially within the design space. Features that cross the boundary will only have the volume that lies within the design space included.
