Outputting to Capital format


You can exchange data between QY CAD and Capital in both connected and disconnected mode.

To exchange data:

To exchange data in disconnected mode:

  1. In QY CAD, once you have prepared the harness, on the Application menu, point to Save As, then choose Save As ECAD.

  2. Do one of the following:

    1. To transfer only wiring information, on the Save As ECAD dialog box, set the Document field to UDS – Capital Logic and click OK.

    2. To transfer harness topology, On the Save As ECAD dialog box, set the Document field to UDS – Capital HarnessXC and click OK.

  3. On the UDS – Capital Logic dialog box or the UDS – Capital HarnessXC dialog box, specify a name and location for the file and click Save.

    You are now ready to import the harness information into Capital.

  4. In Capital Logic, click WorkflowBridge In.

  5. On the File Open dialog box, use the Browse button to locate and select the .xml file and then click Open.

    The .xml file is imported and the harness preview displays the 2D representation of the harness design.

  6. Click Process to create the harness drawing.

Exchange data between QY CAD and Capital in connected mode

To exchange data in connected mode:

  1. Once you have prepared the harness in QY CAD, open Capital.

  2. In Capital, click the WorkflowConfigure button .

  3. On the Connection Properties dialog box, enter the appropriate Port name for the Remote Application and Local Application.

  4. In QY CAD Electrical Routing, click the HomeElectricalConnect button.

    A log viewer displays actions and information about the transactions between Solid Edge and Capital.

  5. In Capital, click the WorkflowQY CAD Connect button.

  6. In Capital, click WorkflowBridge In to display the 2D representation of harness topology created in QY CAD.
