Weldment File Type dialog box

Weldment functionality is available in the Assembly environment. Choose the template type to be assigned when creating new weldment documents from the Application menu→New tab.

Legacy Weldment Document (.PWD)

Specifies that a (.PWD) document template is used when creating weldment documents. This option should only be set if you are completing a weldment design project that was started in QY CAD version 17 or earlier. QY CAD no longer delivers the .pwd weldment template files. For access to these templates, contact the Global Customer Support & Success (GCS&S) team.

For new weldment design projects, set the New Assembly Weldment Document (.ASM) option. New commands and enhanced capabilities are available when working with weldment designs in the Assembly environment.

New Assembly Weldment Document (.ASM) - (Recommended)

Specifies that a (.ASM) document template is used when creating weldment documents. This is the recommended option for all new customers and existing customers who are starting new weldment design projects.
