SEEC diagnostics
The SEEC Diagnostic application is designed to provide the information you need to diagnose any problems that might arise when you work with QY CAD in the Teamcenter-managed environment. The application can be used to:
-
Set the level of information being logged when QY CAD is in use in the Teamcenter-managed environment.
-
Perform a diagnostic scan that enables you to easily create a collection of information regarding the configuration of your Teamcenter integration.
To run the diagnostics application, from the Start menu, choose UDS QY CAD 2022→Diagnostic Application. You can also access the diagnostics application from the Teamcenter tab of the QY CAD PDM Client - Application Launcher.
Setting logging levels
You can use the Settings portion of the SEEC Diagnostics dialog box to define the type of logging enabled when you use QY CAD in the Teamcenter-managed environment. You only need to set the level of logging you require and click Apply. Logging levels you can choose from are:
- Performance
-
Generates the Performance Journal Logging (PJL) file in the QY CAD logs folder. This level of logging is the default.
- Debug
-
Enhances the amount of information collected. In addition to the PJL file, the following logs are generated when the logging level is set to Debug:
-
PJL file
-
TALLOG file
-
SOAClient log file
-
TAL debug log file
-
Save as deep copy data
-
All log files are saved to the location defined in QY CAD Options→File Locations→Log files with the exception of soaclient*.txt which is saved to %TEMP%.
If QY CAD or a Teamcenter integration application such as Structure Editor is running when you make changes to the logging level, the application must be restarted for the changes to be implemented.
Performing a diagnostic scan
The SEEC Diagnostic scan collects information such as software location, database connection, cache information, registry details, and log files into one location to share with product support in the event assistance is needed.
The Teamcenter portion of the SEEC Diagnostics dialog box displays your current Teamcenter connection configuration information. You only need to provide a location for the output of the scan in the Diagnostic package location. Once the scan is run, read-only output from the scan appears in the Detail portion of the SEEC Diagnostics dialog box. If multiple versions of an application are installed, the scan reports the details for each version.
Workflow for performing a scan
-
Start the SEEC Diagnostic application.
The connection type, 2-tier or 4-tier, defaults to the connection type you worked with last.
-
Supply either your TC_ROOT and TC_DATA information for a 2-tier configuration or your server's URL for a 4-tier configuration.
-
Define the diagnostic package folder location that will hold the files created by the scan.
-
Start the scan and log into Teamcenter when prompted.
Caution:You should exit QY CAD, Structure Editor, and Add to Teamcenter before running the scan.
-
When the scan completes, close the application.
For more details, see Run a SEEC diagnostics scan.
The SEECDiagnostic log file
The log file generated by the diagnostics scan is SEECDiagnostic_YYYYMMDDHHMMSS.txt where YYYY is the year, MM is the month, DD is the day, HH is the hour, MM is the minute, and SS is the second the scan was started. Types of information the log file can include are:
-
System hardware and software information
-
Disk size and free space
-
Teamcenter preferences
-
Template file names
-
Environment variables
The SEECDiagnostic log file and other output generated by the scan is stored in a folder in the diagnostic package location you define. The data in the diagnostic package folder should be zipped along with an export of your Teamcenter attribute mapping and sent to product support for analysis in the event assistance is needed.
