Save As command
Saves the active document to a new name, folder, or format.
-
If you use the Save As command on parts that are linked to an assembly or draft document, the links between the saved-as copy of the part and other linked documents is changed. For example, opening a part document from a draft, and then using Save As to copy and rename the part document, results in the draft document being linked to the newly created part file. The same is true for parts linked to assembly documents.
-
If you want to save a document as an image file, use the Application menu→Save As→Save As Image command.
Using Save As with Teamcenter-managed documents
The Save As command saves the active document to a new Item ID, Revision, and Item Name. You can also specify other property information, such as the Teamcenter folder and Dataset Description, using the Save As dialog box.
-
Translated files (Parasolid, STEP) that are part of the active document's dataset are not saved to new documents created with the Save As command.
-
Draft documents are revised and checked in or uploaded along with the active document as specified by the Automatically revise or copy drawings that use the selected 3D document check box on the General tab→Manage page of the QY CAD Options dialog box.
-
When you use Save As on a draft document, the software checks to see if there is a 3D QY CAD file in the same item revision as the draft. You are not permitted to perform a Save As of a draft of one file into an item revision that already has a 3D file.
Because the Save As command creates a document with a new Item ID, use it to create similar but different parts and assemblies. To create a different revision of the same component, use the Revisions command.
