Create a coincident reference plane
-
Choose Home tab→Reference group→Coincident Plane
.
-
In the graphic window, select a planar face or an existing reference plane.
Tip:-
When you create a new reference plane based on an existing reference plane, the x-axis orientation of the new reference plane matches the x-axis orientation of the existing reference plane.
-
When you create a new reference plane based on a planar face on the model, you can use the N, B, T, F, and P hot keys on the keyboard to define the orientation of the x-axis. The N key selects the next linear edge as the x-axis. The B key goes back to the previously selected edge. The T key toggles the x-axis origin to the opposite end of the selected edge. The P key selects a base reference plane to define the x-axis. The F key flips the normal direction of the reference plane, which changes the x-axis orientation.
-
You can use the steering wheel to move the reference plane to another location.
-
In an assembly document, this command is on the Sketching tab in the Reference group.
