penalty factor
In assembly models, the stiffness value used to transmit the displacement between connected element pairs in a glued or no penetration (linear contact) connection. The penalty factor influences the rate of solution convergence, and to a lesser extent, the accuracy of the contact solution. The automatic penalty factor calculation using the default value works well for most instances, but manual adjustments may be necessary, particularly if a contact problem fails to converge.
You can change the default penalty factor value in the Options dialog box when defining a connector using the following commands in QY CAD Simulation:
-
Auto
-
Manual
-
Edge (Connector Type=Glue)
