QY CAD to AutoCAD Translation Wizard (File Mapping)
Assists in mapping a QY CAD document to an AutoCAD document.
- AutoCAD Version
-
Displays the version of AutoCAD to which you intend to export. QY CAD supports versions 12, 13, 14, 2000, 2004, 2007,2010, and 2013.
- Generate Log File
-
Produces a log file that contains warnings and information about the files involved in translation.
The log file is named in the standard convention of file_name.log and is named in the standard convention of file_name.log. It is written to the same folder which Solid Edge reads or is currently writing the AutoCAD file to. QY CAD will automatically overwrite an existing log file is the same name is specified. You must have write permission for the target folder to be able to create a log file.
- Translate Background Sheet on Export
-
Specifies that you want to translate the background sheets in the QY CAD document which you are exporting. The default is to translate the background data.
- Translate Part Layer Names as AutoCAD Layer Names
-
Creates AutoCAD layer names that are derived from part file names contained in a Solid Edge Draft file you are exporting. The graphics that represent each part are then placed on these layers in AutoCAD.
This option does not affect draft files created from a single part file. Draft files that consist of a single part file maintain the same layer naming convention defined in the draft file.
This option is disabled if you select the Enable Layer and Attribute Mapping option.
- Enable Layer and Attribute Mapping
-
Activates the Layer and Attribute Mapping page of the wizard.
This option is disabled if you select the Translate Part Layer Names as AutoCAD Layer Names option.
- Export to Paper Space
-
Specifies that you want to export the dimensions, annotations, and other items on the drawing sheet to AutoCAD paper space and export the drawing view geometry to model space. This creates an AutoCAD file that contains geometry at a 1:1 scale and a paper space that reflects the exact drawing of the QY CAD draft file.
If you do not select this option, everything is exported to model space.
To learn how to do this, see Export one or all sheets to AutoCAD.
- Drawing View Border Layer
-
Displays the name of the layer that the drawing view border is placed on. The layer name and display value is controlled by the Export Drawing view border layer= parameter in the seacad.ini file.
Use the ON/OFF option to control the display of the translated layer. This option is controlled by the Export Drawing view border display= parameter in the secad.ini file.
These options only apply when exporting to paper space so they are disabled if the Export to Paper Space option is not checked.
- Export QY CAD Dimensions as AutoCAD Dimensions
-
Specifies that you want to export the QY CAD dimensions as AutoCAD dimensions. If you do not select this option QY CAD dimensions are exported as simple graphics and text boxes.
- Export Dimension Picture Data
-
Specifies you want to export the block or picture data to the AutoCAD document, so the dimensions will appear as they would in QY CAD. If you export a document with this option disabled, QY CAD does not write the block or picture data to the AutoCAD document. When you open the AutoCAD document, AutoCAD generates its own picture data to create an AutoCAD like dimension.
Note:If you are exporting to .dxf format, but do not intend to open and save these documents in AutoCAD, you should enable the Export Dimension Picture Data option. If the target system is dependent on any of the block or picture data, it cannot successfully read and display the dimension correctly if the picture data is not exported. The target CAD system must be able to generate the dimension based only on the dimension object and dimension style information.
This option is only available when you are exporting QY CAD dimensions as AutoCAD dimensions.
- QY CAD File
-
Displays the name of the QY CAD file that you want to export. This file is the source file for retrieving used fonts, line types, and line widths. This information populates the remaining dialogs for fonts, line types and line width to color mapping. This is the name of the active file being saved and is not user-defined.
- AutoCAD Configuration File
-
Displays the name of the AutoCAD configuration file that you want to use for the exported file. This file contains the user-defined settings, such as font, and line type mapping. The configuration file used by default is seacad.iniwhich is located in the QY CAD Program folder. This file name and folder are reserved for QY CAD Draft and cannot be overwritten.
User-defined configuration files that are used across network drives or defined through network drives are supported.
You can click the Browse button to select the configuration file that you want to use.
- Reset
-
Displays a dialog box where you can reset wizard options to their default values. You can reset options on the active page or you can reset options on all pages in the wizard. If you select Reset all options, the system resets options for all pages and displays the first page of the wizard.
- Cancel
-
Discards all input and exits the command.
- Back
-
Moves to the previous dialog box of the Translation Wizard.
- Next
-
Moves to the next dialog box of the Translation Wizard.
- Finish
-
Finishes the wizard and returns to the Save As dialog box.
