Use symmetric mode in Subdivision Modeling


When creating a model that has symmetry, you can start symmetry mode and work on one side of the model, letting the system mirror your modifications to the opposite side.

Symmetric modeling workflow

  1. Select the Home tab→Symmetry group→Start Symmetry command .

  2. Identify a plane or face as the source of symmetry.

  3. You can place the mirror plane on the opposite side, by clicking the direction arrow.

  4. Begin modeling. The changes you make appear on just one side of the model until you right-click to apply the change.

    This results in a complete cage for the entire body.

  5. To end symmetric modeling mode, select the Stop Symmetry command .
