Create a spiral curve

You can create a flat, 2D spiral curve using the Helical Curve command . This example shows how to create a spiral curve using three points on the previously defined geometry shown below.

  1. Select Surfacing tab→Curves group→Helical Curve .

  2. Define the axis (1) by clicking the first two points. The next point that you select defines the starting point of the spiral (2).

  3. In the Helical Curve Parameters dialog box, do the following:

    1. From the helix Type list, select Spiral.

    2. From the Method list, select End diameter and Turns.

    3. Set Rotation=Left-handed.

    4. In the End diameter box, enter 300 mm.

    5. In the Number of turns box, enter 4.

    6. Click Close.

    7. A preview of the spiral curve is displayed.

  4. When you are satisfied with the results, click Finish to complete the actions.

Tip:

You can create many different types of helical curves. For more information, see Helical Curve command and Helical Curve Parameters dialog box.
