Create a family of parts

In PathFinder, click the Family of Parts tab.

On the Family of Parts pane, click the Edit Table button to display the Family of Parts Edit Table dialog box.

In the dialog box, click the New Member button.

Type a new member name, and then click OK.

In the Family of Parts Edit Table dialog box, do one or more of the following:

To suppress a feature on the new family member, select the feature cell in the member column for the feature you want to suppress, then click the Suppress Features button at the top of the dialog box.

To edit a variable for the new family member, select the variable cell in the member column for the variable you want to edit, type a new value, and then press the Enter key.

To define a folder location for the new family member, select the path cell in the member column, and then click the Set Path button at the top of the dialog box. Use the Browse for Folder dialog box to define the folder location you want.
Note:Repeat steps 3 through 5 to create and configure each new family member you want.

In the Family of Parts Edit Table dialog box, click the Save Table Data button to save the changes you made.

In the Family of Parts Edit Table dialog box, click the Select All Members button.

On the Family of Parts tab, click the Populate Member(s) button.
New documents are created for each family member.
Note:For QY CAD data management users who selected the option Automatically name files via Document Number and Revision, the system displays a dialog box where you can assign common properties, such as document number and revision number, as explained in Create documents with unique properties.

Family members are associative to the master part.

You can use the Set Path button on the dialog box to define a folder location for the family members.

To create a part document for a single family member, select the column heading for the member in the Family of Parts Edit Table dialog box, and then click the Populate Member button.

To display an individual family member in the graphic window, select the member column heading for the member you want to display, then click the Apply button at the top of the dialog box.

You can also display an individual family member in the application window using the Family of Parts tab. Select the family member name from the list, and then click the Apply button.

Symbols are displayed in the Status row to indicate whether a populated member file has been created, the file is up to date, the file needs updating, and so on.

You can also use the Family of Parts tab to create, copy, rename, and delete family members, to suppress and unsuppress features and to define variable values.
