Drawing View Layout dialog box (Create or Modify)

When creating new drawing views with the Drawing View Wizard, you can use the Drawing View Layout options to choose the primary view plus additional orthographic views that are based on the primary view.

When modifying a selected drawing view, the dialog box title changes to Drawing View Modify dialog box. Not all options are available for modifying a drawing view.

Primary View

Specifies the view orientation for the initial (primary) drawing view created with the View Wizard. It also modifies the orientation of a selected drawing view.

Note:

The primary view names in the list consist of default QY CAD view names, views defined in the Custom Orientation dialog box, and user-defined Named Views created using the View Orientation command in the Part, Sheet Metal, and Assembly environments.

For more information, see Save a new named view.

Custom

Displays the Custom Orientation dialog box. You can use the view manipulation options in the Custom Orientation window to:

  • Reorient the primary view of the 3D part before you fold drawing views from it.

  • Create a perspective view.

  • Modify a selected view orientation.

Drawing View Layout

When creating drawing views, you can use the eight buttons arranged around the perimeter of the dialog box to specify orthographic (principal) and pictorial views of the model. The views that are available for selection are based on the type of model and the orientation you select from the Primary View list.

  • If you select an orthographic view (front, right, or top) as the Primary View, then you can select additional views to place on the drawing sheet along with the initial view by selecting one or more buttons representing the view orientations.

  • If you select a pictorial view (dimetric, iso, or trimetric) from the Primary View list, then you cannot add other views to the drawing view layout until you place the initial view.

  • If you select user defined from the Primary View list for a part model, then you can choose additional views to place with it. If it is an assembly model, these options are not available.

Note:

The order in which the view orientation buttons are arranged in the dialog box is based on whether you are using first-angle projection or third-angle projection.
