Creating a single design body from an assembly
The components of an assembly can be merged into a single design body in a separate part document. The internal details, such as voids, can be removed.
-
Creating a single design body simplifies the assembly representation. The intellectual property information is hidden when providing it to a vendor using it as a reference model in his assembly.
-
A single design body can be used for large assemblies received from a supplier to create a geometry representation and use in a higher level assembly without unnecessary details.
-
A single design body can be used as a simplified version of large sub-assemblies in a higher level assembly to improve large assembly performance.
Use the Home→Clipboard→Part Copy command to create the single design body. The command uses the selected assembly's configuration file to control what components are merged.
A complex assembly can be simplified using simplification in component parts and sub-assemblies. Use ‘Simplified Parts’ and ‘Simplified Assemblies’ to create a configuration with reduced details in assembly components. Use this configuration in the Part Copy command dialog.
Using simplified components and hiding small components together to create a configuration to reduce unnecessary detail improves performance as well as hides any intellectual property information that may be important to the user.
